New Digital Camera
Well, our old camera bit the dust the other day, so it was time to go out and find the latest and greatest. My wife loves researching our new purchases on the internet, so she spent the last week combing through Amazon reader reviews and through Consumer Reports. Turns out that our previous digital camera, the Kodak Easyshare LS443 was an engineering timebomb. Almost all of the user reviews on Amazon ended up with the same results as us: a great camera for a year and a half, and then one day for no apparent reason it totally ceases to work. And of course no response from Kodak. I work for a consumer electronics manufacturing company so I have a pretty good idea where those customer calls got filed. Ugh. Well, the upshot to all of this is that our new camera, the Nikon Coolpix 5200 is REALLY cool. It's amazing how much digital camera technology progresses in such a short amount of time. I wonder if Moore's Law applies to consumer electronics as well? If you're looking for a non-professional digital camera, then I highly recommend the Nikon Coolpix.

Flipcode Knowledge Base
I've been a long-time Flipcode reader, but since they put their main site on hold while they develop the new site, I have pretty much ignored the work going on at the beta site.
Suffice it to say, I was pretty jazzed to find their new Knowledge Base, at the beta site.
I have been a long-time believer that game programming is invaluable to enterprise developers because game programming tends to sharpen development tools and algorithms to razor sharp edges. If you don't believe me, take a look at the General Programming category in Flipcode's Knowledge Base.

PalmOS Error Code Lookup Tool
To go along with my earlier post on Symbian error codes, I came across this in the Palm newsgroups today. Pretty handy and definitely something you should add to your bookmarks if you're a PalmOS developer.

Bug In Treo 600 Launcher
Apparently, the Treo 600 has a bug in its launcher app. The second application (alphabetically) in the list of applications cannot be assigned to a hard button. Normally, you would do this using PrefSetPreference(). The only work-around for this is to install another application to push down the application you want to assign so that it is no longer the second application in the list, or to rename the application you want to assign. I'm hoping that this gets fixed in the Treo 650.

Mega-Penny Project
Don't ask me how I found this, but it's pretty cool. Helps give a tactile sense of numbers.

Not All GPRS Classes Created Equal
Over at NewLC, they have posted a nice article explaining the difference in GPRS classes. Nothing new, but a pretty nice summary.
