New Digital Camera
Well, our old camera bit the dust the other day, so it was time to go out and find the latest and greatest. My wife loves researching our new purchases on the internet, so she spent the last week combing through Amazon reader reviews and through Consumer Reports. Turns out that our previous digital camera, the Kodak Easyshare LS443 was an engineering timebomb. Almost all of the user reviews on Amazon ended up with the same results as us: a great camera for a year and a half, and then one day for no apparent reason it totally ceases to work. And of course no response from Kodak. I work for a consumer electronics manufacturing company so I have a pretty good idea where those customer calls got filed. Ugh. Well, the upshot to all of this is that our new camera, the Nikon Coolpix 5200 is REALLY cool. It's amazing how much digital camera technology progresses in such a short amount of time. I wonder if Moore's Law applies to consumer electronics as well? If you're looking for a non-professional digital camera, then I highly recommend the Nikon Coolpix.
